SGFAN Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 The "Little Brown Truck" stopped by today and delivered my 2003 LP Classic in Honey Burst. It's in great condition with very little fret wear. It has Graphtech Saddles, WCR pups (they sound killer) and Grover tuners have been installed in place of the Klusons (I actually like Klusons). It weighs in at a hefty 9 lbs. Plays like butter and sounds like a freight train flying down the Cajon Pass! I cleaned her up, applied Fret Dr to the dry fret board (that is a great product BTW) and installed a set of 9.5 Boomers. I also adjusted the pup height and stop bar height. The neck was spot on. I added the pick guard and the amber top hats. The only issue is the volume controls are sluggish and feel gummy. I will probably replace both volume controls with CTS pots. I'm keeping the pups... buttery creamy PAF tones with enough edge to be aggressive if you need it. Conclusion? She's a keeper!
charlie brown Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Try some electrical grade spray silicon, or even WD-40, on the shafts of the pots. (You can apply with a cotton swab, instead of spraying.) I'd try it, at least, before you replace the pots altogether. Both will loosen and take the "static" out, as well...if they have any(?). CB
project Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 AWESOME!! Out of all the "burst" finishes, I would have to say Honey Burst is my fave. I wish the little brown truck would bring me one of those.
MikeRom Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 One of the nicest plain tops i've seen. What a beauty. Congrats! Lubricated contact cleaner for the sticky pots will fix 'em right up. Did you take those pics? You are way better at it than I am -
SGFAN Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 Thanks for the kudos and the info about the pots. I'll take care of that tomorrow. I'm playing her right now... smooth like butter!

rocketman Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Congrats! Looks like it's in pretty good condition for a six year old guitar...
Swmcv2007 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I'm not a fan of Honey Bursts but that one is giving me a little GAS. Something about it really just screams "PLAY ME RIGHT NOW!"
