For your serial number, according to the Guitar Dater site;

"Your guitar was made at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA; October 3rd, 1990; Production Number: 96 "

Nice looking instrument. Has it been re-fretted, do you know?

Could we have some more pics too if it's not too much trouble?

yeah it has been refretted; very well spotted! i don't like the 'pips' les pauls normally have around the frets, so i refretted it so that the fret sits on top of the binding which is nice and smooth; its tricky because the fret tang has to be cut back and then the fret overlaid, but it feels amazing! also has a new nut, machine heads and bridge.

here's some more pics

Sweet guitar, Rockso.

were they a limited run for australia/southern hemisphere or something?

Who knows? Gibson makes so many limited editions that your best bet is to probably contact them directly and ask if they can provide you with some info. Although, don`t be surpirsed if they can`t.

Colours is also Canadian. =P~

I have 2 of these guitars, both made in 1990, one is the same mocha colour as yours and the other is trans amber. They have '59 rounded profile necks, 2 piece plain tops and there were only 200 made in each colour. The colours were trans amber, mocha, purple and blue. They are loaded with a pair of 490 pups...I love mine, they are my only 2 Les Pauls.

Here's a sh!tty picture of my amber one...

Hello everyone. Here is what I know about the 1990 Gibson Les Paul Standard Limited Colour edition. First, I have one, a stock 1990 Transparent Purple with gold hardware and exposed 59 Classic Zebra pickups – and it all came from the Custom Shop this way. Second, this run is from the Gibson Custom Shop and at the time, you could specify what you wanted done to your order, so some guitars are a lot different than others. Third, I believe the “standard run” had silver hardware and 498/490 pickups, so if yours is a 1990, and it is different, someone customized it. Fourth, first I was told by Gibson that this run was limited to 300, then it was 250, and now I am hearing 200 or under. Fifth, this was a popular run at the time and a second round happened a few years after 1990, but I do not remember when, between 1992 and 1996 I think was the second run; but I was told that the second run could not be customized, however I do not know if this is correct.

Well, I think that is all I know. Does anybody else know more? Oh yeah, under the neck pickup is the colour of your guitar. Lastly, as a Custom Shop guitar, the wood, electronics, and everything else are all top quality components.

I remembered some more information after re-reading the posts here. First, I was told the word “colour” was chosen because it is the English way of spelling “color” and Gibson liked the idea of using “colour” instead of “color.” Second, I think there were four Limited Colours in 1990: Purple, and apparently from this post yellow/Amber and brown/natural/Mocha; however I do not remember the colours because this was 19 years ago. Third, this 1990 Limited Colour was a normal world-wide release Gibson did through their Custom Shop. Three, the 1990 run had the ’59 neck, but the subsequent second run had the 1960 neck. Fourth, I know the second run produced the Transparent Purple again, but I do not know about the other colours, so the second run may have only been the Purple.
