I have a 2003 SG Standard. It's not modified what so ever. It's been my backup guitar to my LP classic, and I think I want to sell it to get another LP classic, or another LP with a 60's slim neck and 490/498T pickup set. I can't think of any that come to mind. Any help?

BTW, the SG is Ebony. If you want I'll post pics of it, but its your SG Standard. Since it's a backup, hasn't seen much stage time and is in great condition. What do you I could get for it?

Thanks guys! and any ladies...

I could, but last night at practice runnin through my TSL 60, the LP just has more OOMPH than my SG, and I'm running the same pickup setup (490/498T) in each guitar. I think that was the deciding factor.

Why do you want two lps?

No diversity. I have an lp, and sg, and 2 super strats. I can play about anything I want.

No diversity? The Lester can be configured in many different ways, with several pickup options, for many different tones.

Might I ask why you have two Super Strats? Is there diversity in owning 2 of them? If yes, then why couldn't 2 Lester's be just as diverse?

+1

Besides, the SG is mainly used as a backup guitar that you said doesn't get played much anyway so, presumably, the LP you want to get won't get played very much either. Might as well have a different flavor around for when you want it.

Back to your original post, sliptrip...I'd say $1,000 - $1,200 if the guitar is in mint condition. A new black SG Standard lists for $1,650 on GC.com. Les Paul Standards used to come with 490/498. I can't recall the exact years that they did but I believe is was before 2002. So, see if you can find one of those.

Of course, you could always find another LP Classic and replace the pick ups with a 490/498 set. The good thing about doing this is Classics are generally cheap to buy and so is the 490/498 set. I often see listings for 490/498 on craiglist. A lot of guys replace them and then try to sell them. You should be able to get the guitar and pickups for $1,200 - $1,500.
