Why so many Gibsons in Japan?

Recommended Posts

Especially on ebay and especially acoustics, there's so many new and "used" (but actually new) Gibson guitars in Japan. Is this some Japanese business person buying up at cost, stock that dealers elsewhere in the world can't shift?

Many bought them because they're great Guitars, good investments & a hedge against Inflation..

I’ve been at vintage guitar shows where Japanese business people buy Gibsons for investment purposes.

I agree they are great guitars. Those J-45 standards with the red spruce tops are absolute cannons. Search ebay for the honeyburst or triburst.  There's 30-40 of them, all in Japan. They appear on Reverb.com as well.
