matiac
My first car was a 1973 Plymouth Fury III, former cop car, 440 removed replaced with a 318, which moved the car quite well thank you. I had that car almost 5 years before the next, 1976 Dodge Dart (ton of Mopars) again with a 318. I miss the Fury, that thing was a land yacht. charlie brown
LOL! '59 Chevy "Bel Air" 4-door (283, automatic) in two tone "Pea Green!" (Hey, it was cheap, and in great condition!) But...I LOVED it, it got me where I needed/wanted to go, and had a great "back seat!" ;>) Next car, a year or so later, was a '65 Chey Impala SS Coupe (Mine was "Silver," with Black Interior), 327-with Holly 4-barrel, and 4-speed stick. "Wide Oval" tires, and "Dumps" added later. Did I have some GREAT times, in THAT car, too! LOL! CB

RichCI
LOL! '59 Chevy "Bel Air" 4-door [...] had a great "back seat!" ;>) Man, that's the thing that is really missing in today's cars There is nothing like the back seat of an old American car where you have a lot of room. NeoConMan
Hah! Rich, that Maverick looks exactly like the one my older sister had for her first car!!! Same color, hubcaps and all. Manual transmission, 3 on the tree. One day the oil light came on - so she hauled *** home. It was locked up tight after it knocked and quit on the street in front of the house. She almost made the driveway... My first was a 1970 Pontiac Catalina. 4 doors, puke lime green metallic with white vinyl top. Real piece of sh!t, stepdad 'blessed' me with it after an investment of $300. Hey, at least it was FREEDOM and I could go where I wanted. I've bought and maintained nice vehicles ever since, I won't own a piece of sh!t. Wife-mobile. Note smiley face license plate top reflect her perptually sunny disposition. Well over 100,000 miles. My 4x4 Suburban with a 454. Leather seating for 7, or room for lotsa guitars and guns. Also well over 100,000 miles. My main commuter, 2007 Kawasaki KLR 650. Equally home on pavement or in the mountains and desert. No, that's not the Compound. That was a house I leased until I moved into my permanent digs 18 months ago. Thinking about getting the wife a new Mustang GT, she's decided she wants a used Jaguar instead....

FirstMeasure
Technically a Plymouth Belvedere, but I only drove it once before it broke down, and I sold it to my Brother who was a wiz in the Mechanics Department. What I think of as my first car was a '67 VW Square Back. Light Blue with a sun roof. Mind you, I never Drink and Drive. So one night I was out with a friend from work who was moving to Alaska to work in the Oil fields , and my roomate volunteers for the Designated Driver position. After a few shots of Southern Comfort and several beers later we head home. Now my roomate was with us the whole time, I watched him drink nothing but soda. The sober driver is taking us home and decides to start jerking the wheel around, figuring it would be real funny to watch the drunks react. As I was saying, "Knock it off, these things roll easy," he hit the soft shoulder and put it right on the roof. I was pissed, Kicked his arse out if the house, and I Hate that SOB to this day. I miss my square back, and I have no surviving pictures of it.
