el_cid
I just picked up what looks like a 78 J160E I’m looking for information about. Specifically the label inside says J160E Custom. Internet searches just come up with hits for Custom Shop J160Es. Was there a Custom model and if so what makes it different from a standard of that time, or did they just call it a custom for some reason. Any other info would be appreciated. thanks
ksdaddy
Gibson used “custom” and “deluxe” on some of the acoustic labels in the 70s. I have no idea why, I’ve wondered if adding those words gave them a little latitude when making spec changes. Pure speculation on my part. Larsongs
Gibson reserves the right to make changes at will. Sometimes their nomenclature means nothing new. A little advertising hype or just a new tag for that year.. J-160E’s are great Guitars.. I have a 2002 Bozeman & love it!
