SG set up help.

so i've been teaching myself guitar for 5 years now and i've started getting into metal within the last year or so. I know how to do pinch harmonics pretty well and can pull them all up and down the neck on every string but I can't get a really high one off of the 3 fret on the 6th string or on the first 3 frets of any of the strings for that matter.

I know having really low action can make it hard to pull them. I've already adjust my bridge height a bit.

I play with some pretty heavy strings since im constantly in drop C. and no matter how much drive i put on it, it doesnt get any better. (I know that you don't need excessive drive to pull pinch harmonics before some one corrects me)

Any suggestions?

How heavy are the strings you're using? I'm not a humongous pinch harmonics fan, but, I bet you could probably just raise your action a little more and go to a lighter gauge. -Setting your intonation couldn't hurt either. That won't help much with the harmonics, but you should do it after you move your bridge up or down.

Like Twiz/// said, a lighter gauge of strings will give you a little more slack to play with. But pinch harmonics are naturally difficult to pull off closer to the nut just because the strings have less slack there. You can play pinch harmonics on an acoustic or on your electric when it is unplugged like you already know. The gain just helps emphasize them. The best advice I can give is probably not what you are looking for, but it's just practice, practice, practice.

The strings im using are 13 - 52. haha. so i suppose i could use a lighter gauge. I'll do that. I just like the beefy strings so i didnt really want to go that way. it'd be nice to switch things up anyway. I've used heavys for so long...

13 - 52's? Holy crap. No wonder. Try like a set of 11's or even 10's and raise your action a bit. You'll be doing pinch harmonics in no time.

I bet you could probably find some Zakk Wylde video on how to do 'em on youtube. He's a master.
