FirstMeasure
Black Southern Preachers used to tell their Black congeregation that the White man and his Lust for money was the Devil. So, when a black artist would turn his back on the music he should have been making for the Church and God and used his talent to make secular music for profit, he had sold his soul to the devil. As far as the "Crossroads" legend, I believe this came from the same place the term "Honky" comes from. Just as blacks were unwelcome in white nieghborhoods, white's were unwelcome in black neighborhoods. A "Honky" was a White man that wanted the sevices of a Black Prostetute. He'd pull up to the edge of the nieghborhood and Honk, then the lovley prostetutes wuld come to the car. Therefore the Black Musician would have to meet his White agent just outside of town, probably at some crossroads. Hell Hound's on your trail would be the record producers nagging the Artist to fulfill his Contract. There you have basis for legend. Devil, Contract, Crossroads and all. 'cause I'd use it if there was. Plus I don't know if it's my keyboard or the forum, but it misses a letter now and then. Not that I'd be spelling up a storm otherwise, I'm just wondering if that happens to anyone else.

Now I've downloaded Firefox and I can check my spelling. I don't know why I was using internet explorer for so long. Now I too can check the spelling of those who don't realize there is such a powerful tool out there. I can feel the power going straight to my head. They say Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely, Well so does Spelling Power. Really, though, Thanks. I like this browser way better that IE.
