Need this like a hole in the head

Got it anyway for 2 songs at the annual Alzheimer's benefit gig that I play in Arkansas. This year it will be in November. Hotel California and Stairway as if you couldn't guess. I played an Epiphone version last time and the action was way too high. Got this one online from Nashville and apparently it was set up by a custom shop guy (this is a 1997 model, before it became custom shop and is Gibson Standard). Preliminarily plays like a dream with perfect action for me.

18 strings to tune and it’s just gotta be light as a feather. It’s got double neck dive. Did Jimmy employ his own Chiropractor on tour? Have fun.
Don’t forget Xanadu by Rush.

Do you have any criticisms of it? I need to look at both sides😀

The guitar looks very fine, as is the description given. There is no doubts as to the 2 songs on the agenda.👍
Alzheimer's sux, I hope great music brings some relief to the folks affected...

This will be our 10th benefit. Typically raise ~20K so really worth it. My mom had it.

Very nice.

How heavy is it?

Thanks Steve, just north of 12 pounds. I'm starting back exercises and abdominal crunches in anticipation.

Very niiiiiice! It doesn’t weigh much more than one of my Gibson LP’s.

Good point.😀

With all of the extra wood involved, does it still sound like an SG?

When on the 6 strings it really sings with some distortion so maybe more like a solid LP (to Larsongs point). I'll make a video and show you guys what it sounds like.

Nice Guitar.  I would add a third reason: Xanadu by RUSH.

Me and you make 2. We need one more + for Xanadu. Stairway and Hotel are 2 songs I don’t want to hear again pretty much ever. Good songs but the word overplayed doesn’t do it justice.

Very, very cool!
Congrats.

I love it in white.
The cherry red never did anything for me, but that white pops!

One other great song for 12 string (that we always did) was Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here

And I loved performing 3 Dog Night's Shambala on 12 string as well.
It just made that song better.

🙂

Isn’t a lot of Wish on an acoustic guitar?

Heres one few know on a 12 string. Saw him do it. Wall Of Death from Richard and Linda Thompson from Shoot Our The Lights. Fabulous album if you haven’t heard it. Not one bad note on it, and how could there be it’s RT.

Good on you, Tman, for helping to raise money for Alzheimer's research. My grandmother had it, and it's a horrible disease.

Thanks, it's definitely a feel good about it thing to do. Plus I get to be a rock star for a few minutes.

Very nice addition.  Unless it’s a situation that could result in bankruptcy, a new guitar purchase is never a bad thing, regardless of the model.  Well, that’s always been my rationalization whenever I have a GAS attack.

And a great cause.  My mother had dementia and it was a sad situation until she passed.  Good on you for that.

Nice guitar. My mom had Alzheimer's for 15 years, did remarkably well for 12 years. My family does an Alz walk to raise money for their charity. There is a new drug that just came out, it has high hopes, and a high price tag. Thank you for doing the charity event.

Heard that one enough. Rush has much better. They played it at every tour I saw by them - 8 to be exact.

Tman,

Well done you for helping raise money to aid Alzheimer research.

We Jews have a phrase that describes performing good deeds.

We call it doing "mitzvahs", and your efforts are certainly a mitzvah of the highest order.

Question - how much did it cost per song your gonna use it for?

2.5k so yea expensive but what the hell you only live once and as I have found out in the last few years, every day is a gift. Today is the one year anniversary of my wife’s passing. When I am really sad I buy things.

I’m a half Jew so I get it. I’ve spent years trying to earn the title Mensch.

Tman,

Which half?

Top? Bottom? Front? Back?

No matter.  You are a Mensch.
