musician728
First, thank you to Epiphone for bringing back The Grabber. I've always thought it was one of the coolest looking basses from the 1970's. I know the 1970's basses weren't the most dynamic sounding instruments but they did play very well and when you had the right songs, it fit the pocket perfectly. Now the bad. I haven't played the new Epiphone model, yet, but there are 2 major items missing from it that should come as no surprise. First, and foremost, the fact that the sliding pickup is not a part of this new bass is unforgiveable. That one feature alone is what made the bass unique. Yes, I know, the sliding pickup did little to the sound but I don't care. Let's hope that Epiphone will fix this and provide owners a modification or that some creative person out there can come up with an aftermarket mod to rectify this blunder. The other issue, and this is definitely something that will impact the sound of the bass, is that the bridge is not string-thru the body. Another major disappointment with this new bass. Let's hope Epiphone decides to fix these 2 items, and soon. For now, I'll play one if I see it in a store but with those 2 blunders, I cannot say I am interested in buying one.
