Fred_Engr
I got a rare brainwave! Would be nice if we could have a forum where all the information on guitars was kept for people to browse, maybe a sticky in this forum? For example topic on each Gibson Guitars, specifications, quirks, good points, bad point general impressions, good for strumming or picking. Perhaps who owns what, so if I had a question I could email that person or ask as a topic Guitar polish Different saddles and pins vs comments. Strings Pick guards Amplifiers Tuning Pegs Advice on neck adjustment, saddle height, bridge height Tunings I could go on and on Etc So if I wanted to to find information on Strings I would look under the topic strings. This would take a lot of work because would want information logically and accurately displayed without comments - just facts. Or maybe I should not have any more brainwaves? ballcorner
So if I wanted to to find information on Strings I would look under the topic strings. I have had some success with the search feature. Don't throw tomatoes - I really have! I am not saying it is perfect, but it can help. I like your idea of a registry, though, where we could all post what Gibsons we own so people could solicit us for opinions. Maybe that is something the site could put together. Fenno
Fred, What you're describing would be a wiki (think wikipedia) but oriented more towards the subjects this forum touches on instead of general knowledge. It could really be any basic website; the difficulty (read "labor of love") would be compiling the gems from all the various threads and reconciling conflicting info. It would be to the benefit of the bigger manufacturers to host community-driven content like you're describing. I personally think stickies are ugly and hard to navigate. Have you seen HCEG lately? :-)
TheLiveSoundGuy
While it is in the Lessons, Playing Tips and Tunings section, feel free to post such articles in that section under "The Reference Bookshelf" thread. I think it is a great idea. I think if worded correctly, it would qualify under "Tips."
