Phil OKeefe
Based solely on the way their bodies look (and setting aside things like aging or colors for the moment) , which do you prefer? The Les Paul Junior Single Cut? The Les Paul Junior Double Cut? Or the SG Junior? If you could have only one of the three, which one would you choose? Any comments about preferences for finish/color, or other comments about the various models are certainly welcome.
Rabs
For me it will be the DC every time.. Best shape ever made as far as I am concerned.... Not really in to Juniors though.. Much prefer the DC special... I am also not so much of a fan of the wraparound.. A TOM with tailstop is always more preferable to me.. Far more accurate than a wraparound and it always makes it looks like something is missing from the guitar. A new DC Standard would be cool too.... Gibson dont make anywhere near enough of them... And they have to be like the one above where its joined at the last fret and the wiring has been done from the back (hated those ones that were routed from the front)... And the top strap button HAS to be on the horn.... Probably too much detail there so I will stop now 🙂 Edited October 24 by Rabs
Phil OKeefe
Thanks, Rabs. I appreciate your input! I may put the winner of this battle up against a Special. 🙂

sparquelito
The Junior Double Cut. Fantastic guitar. It's a single pickup P90, and I played one that belonged to a friend at a gig down south. I owned this two pickup one (a 2015 Special double-cut) for a few seasons, and then sadly had to sell it when I was doubling down to pay off the house. 🥲

Larsongs
Single Cut for me. I have a SC Les Paul Special. One of my favorite Guitars! Double Cutaway on Casino’s, ES335’s, 345’s & 355’s. Edited October 25 by Larsongs
RBSinTo
I don't like any of them, but based on their shape only, the one I dislike the least is the Junior Double Cut. RBSinTo

Tman
I like the DC. Looks like my first Gibson, the Melody Maker from the 60's.
Phil OKeefe
So far, it looks like the Les Paul Junior Double Cut is in the lead. 🍿

mihcmac
Either the DC or the SG Juniors But above all I would get the USA Epiphone Coronet. .

Phil OKeefe
38 minutes ago, Sgt. Pepper said: It’s not a Jr. It doesn't have "Junior" in the name, but functionally and fundamentally, it's the same basic thing as the other three guitars I originally listed – a single P-90-equipped guitar with a master volume and master tone control, slab mahogany body, 24.75" scale length, rosewood fretboard, medium jumbo frets, and a wraparound bridge/tailpiece, with all four models being crafted in the Gibson craftory in Nashville, Tennessee. Heck, even the white button tuners are essentially the same across all four models. 🙂 About the only things that differ are the body shapes, the name on the headstock (and the Coronet's headstock "Bikini Badge" vs. the logo decals on the others), and the shape of the 3x3 headstocks. Oh, and the Coronet has a Soapbar P-90 instead of a Dogear P-90. I'd say that's close enough to put it into consideration for this shootout. Sgt. Pepper
It’s like when someone wants advice on a J-45, then people chime in on Hummingbirds. We can’t stay on topic here to save our lives. Edited October 25 by Sgt. Pepper
Dub-T-123
Based on looks for me it’s SG best, then DC then SC. Based on sound I’d say it tends to be SC best, DC second, and SG third Overall the DC wins for me but I would be happy with any of the 3

In my mind those Guitars, with Gibsons parts bin & their bulk purchasing power for materials & parts that should be about $499.00. About 10 years ago I bought a new Gibson Les Paul Special for $499.00. It’s twice the Guitar that is. Edited October 27 by Larsongs

Seriously they saved that much money by not adding one more pup, another tone and volume pot, and using a wrap around bridge? That amounts to what, an extra $250 maybe? Dub-T-123
I think the Coronet body is in fact the cutaway side of a Tele body mirrored Even still IMO the Coronet would cost more to produce than a Tele in terms of manufacturing a Jr doesn’t save a lot of money vs a Special
