Bram
1958 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop: 1960 Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvYxqyNazXQ 1989 Les Paul Standard rare 'Cream': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDHOlalMjjQ I really dig the 1960 Custom (it's thick and clear), very close second comes the 1958 Goltop (full, hot sounding) third the 1989 Les Paul Standard (more agressive). Tim Plains
1989 is vintage? My favorite was the gold top. His was clearly the '89 Standard. Cute black nails...

crossroadsnyc
1 = '58 (have a feeling this one is pretty damn nice) 2 = '89 (sounded good, but most LP's do ... nice, but nothing special) 2 = '60 (same)

MikeRom
The '58 hands down favorite. Dang that was sweet!
James Allen
I think the black beauty sounded the best, but I'm partial to goldtops. I couldn't get past the painted fingernails of the dude though. So gay.
saturn
I liked the natural sound of the BB. A little raw and ragged, but that's the way I like it.

Cam in alberta
58 loved it 60 loved it too 89 ok but get some strap locks, on another clip he almost dropped a 59 burst too!
pippy
I preferred the BB although I suspect he could even make a $20 "Jedson Special" sound wonderful. Didn't like the '89 as much as the others but nothing an anti-clockwise nudge of the Vol knob wouldn't fix......
Fast Ferry
The 58 goldtop is my favoritebecause of the looks, but I think the 89 Standard did sound the best. Don't like the 60's Black beauty, but that's because I've never liked a Les Paul with 3 pick ups. For some reason it doesn't work for me. But....when push comes to shove, I wouldn't turn down any of these guitars if they were given to me.

Tim Plains
Vintage is 20 + years Is it? 20 years seems a bit new to be considered vintage. 30 years seems more reasonable to me. Just saying...
Bram
So, a lot of you people seem to prefer the 1958 Goldtop! Sounded great indeed...still I prefer the Custom, because of its raw character. Lespaul2: Yes, it's a Les Paul Standard Silverburst from 1988 (mahogany body, mahogany neck, maple cap, ebony fretboard). Only 200 made. It's my favourite! You seem to collect Silverburst Les Pauls?
