Tim Plains
So...if you have $2,500 to spend on a Les Paul, what would it be? You can go with either new or used. Let's use current GC.com prices as a guide and not worry about taxes. Unless you find one at (say) sweetwater and post a link to it. Used, I guess eBay would be a good source for prices. I'm not in the market for another LP, just wondering what you'd get with the money.

HeadCase
So...if you have $2' date='500 to spend on a Les Paul, what would it be? ...just wondering what you'd get with the money.[/quote'] Nothing... I'd put that toward another '09 R9 (awesome guitars!), or Pearly.
GuitarGuy503
Probably a used R8.....:)
thejay
I've really wanted to get a Traditional or if I could find a nice RI 57 Goldtop, I'd take that!
LPguitarman
I think I'd go for a Traditional Desert Burst or 2008 Standard. Whichever one I could play that cries out buy me... Of course, if I had $2,500 to burn, my wife would "BURN" me if I spent it on a guitar. LOL.
rocketman
I'd go for a used R8. Don't think I'd find an R9 for that price, but since I already have a AAA top Les Paul I'd go for the R8 anyways...

Maple
well just about 2 months ago i had $2,500 to spend on a Les Paul. took home a Traditional. A used historic may have been cool, but i'd rather not get of eBay, sight unseen. i need to play a few and see how they feel. so i'm happy with my choice... i'd do it again. MikeRom
+1 for the R8.
Buc McMaster
I'd have to go with a VOS Les Paul Junior in TV Yellow. Double cut, single P90, baseball bat for a neck and screamin' tone! Had one a few years ago and let it get away. It takes the "Most Fun To Rock With" prize in my book!

Flight959
Sorry guys, I should have said, $2500 wouldn't buy you very much here, so I took it as £2500... I have seen two 68 VOS go for just over $3.2K each...in the US... Regards

Luap
I would spend it on a "normal" Les Paul Custom. Ebony I think (maybe White).
elessar820
I'd look for a used Silverburst Custom, a Les Paul Traditional Plus in Desertburst or Traditional in Goldtop. For other brands, I'd look into a PRS Mira Maple Top with Birds in Whale Blue or a Fender American Standard Ash Strat HSS in Sienna Sunburst. If I got the Strat, I'd have some extra cash for some other stuff too.
Tim Plains
What would you have Tim....? Used R8, for sure...if I didn't already have one. Custom Shop guitar, burst finish, sweet plain top...what more could a guy ask for? Best bang for the buck, as far as Les Pauls go.
Silverbursted
I'd put it toward that 68 Custom!!!
