Does it come with a free soup and egg roll? The fortune cookie says keep walking.

No... ](*,) lol

But I would still like to know, in this specific case, what are the features that lead you to believe it's Chinese?

Well, I noticed a few things ... for starters, the fretboard looks mahagony as opposed to ebony. There are a few other things, but I'll leave it up to some others to answer to make it more of a fun game.

Hint on one: something about the bridge looks a little off, no?

Wrong screws in the pup rings....

Wrong Bridge pins...

Wrong TRC and position...

Its the first time I have seen one with the correct back on it.... (No control cavities)

FAKE!!

These are the most faked Gibson going... followed by Zakk's bullseye and LP Customs

Do you think they make all those flaws intentionally?

I'm sure they could have corrected everything by now but they haven't.

Take the truss rod, for example - they could easily move it so it's not touching the nut but it still remains in the wrong place...I mean wong place

For sure a fake I know because I had a chinese LP supreme. If you look at the inlay on the headstock it should have an inlay of the earth to show north and south america. the fake ones do not have these countries instead there is just abilone inlay.

Proof of what i mean here. the top pic is real and you can make out north and south america. the pics that you show are a fake. http://crazyaboutguitars.webs.com/morefakepics.htm

What is it. You guys mostly (the Newbie's) come here with a Finished copy that your Maybe Proud of

Asking us if we think its real or if we think it's a Fake.

Why. You guys not smart enough to get a photo of a real one.

Then copy it. How hard is that.

I have not been here very long and even though my "title" says I am an advanced member I am far from it. I thought this forum...especially the forum that is on the Gibson website...should be a place where people can come and ask questions about these Gibsons that we love so much no matter how simplistic.

Of course I feel that people should use the search function to research answers to any obvious questions before they are asked to be answered by those who have been in the "club" longer than others. I have done and continue to do a lot of this but sometimes the function does not provided the information easily.

Sorry dude to use your post / attitude as an example of the elitest, smarter than thow comments that tend to push new members, such as myself, away from the Gibson lifestyle because we need to ask if a particular guitar is a fake, hopefully before somebody spends money, or what is a speed knob vs a top hat.

I have seen some posts by old time members that have encouraged "youngsters" to come with questions/pictures before the purchase is made....that is they way it should be. (the old teaching the young so to speak..(Gibson age not physical age).

Sorry to totally side track the thread....sorry to comment on your post max2343 as I have seen others besides you make similar comments...nothing personal I just feel we need to encourage young Gibson lover's, like myself, while keeping the expert Gibson lovers involved by asking for their help.

Off soap box....I fully understand if I am to be chastised or removed from the forum for this.

God Bless

Shane

ps...Dude...have some class...change the avitar.

Sir xxxlshane. To address your comments directed towards myself, backwards as I'm also the crazygreek and always seem to find myself naturally doing the backwards thing.

First man sorry but I love my Avatar and will not change it for you.

I don't think you would be Chastised or removed from this forum for so nicely speaking your mind ( your such a Gentlemen) and you do not need to apologize to me ever for anything.

I simply noticed that "dragffys" from Portugal was holding such an obvious Fake gibson les paul and had listed in his signature as owning 2 real gibson guitars ( A 1987 SG Special and a 1996 les paul Standard) and Assumed he was playing Games.

Because 1 he's lying about having 2 usa gibsons and is just trying to see if anyone here can notice it's a fake and would be trying to pass it off by lying to someone and trying to sell it as a real one for a huge profit

or 2 he is a complete moran and does own 2 older USA Gibson guitars and dosen't really know the difference.

Sorry sir xxxlshane (hmm wonder what the xxx stands for) but I went for the first one, Smelling bull-****.

Cause if it looks like Bull-****===== Smells like Bull===****============it is Bull-**** in my book.

god your analogies just keep getting better and better! and as far as this whole knowing what a gibson looks like after owning 2 thing is not that big odf a deal i have a bud who owns like 7 gibs and he still asks to get a second opinion even though i only own one (it may also have to do with the fact that i am well versed in the history of almost every model gibson made.)

anyways it good you asked i like this stuff. It is a FAKE SORRY MAN BUMMER. i would tell you why but it looks like rest have taken care of that. but tthe head stock looks a little off in degree and shape.
