Raptor
Gibson will not release production numbers unless a guitar is part of a limited run, say 100 guitars. All the 1957 reissues are sequenced from the start of the year until the end of the year, so this means that 57 Custom Black Beautys and 57 Gold Tops are all included together in the serial number sequencing. So guitars 100-150 might be Customs, and 151 to 200 GTs. The format for the serial numbers follows the same pattern as back in the 1950's, except it includes the reissue year. They go like this R YXXX until they hit 1000 then the gap vanishes and they look like RYXXXX. For example 7 8999 then 781000. In the R YXXX R=the year of the reissue, in your case 7=57; the Y is the last digit of the year of production 8=2008 (but it could also be 98); and the XXX or XXXX is where in the year's production your guitar falls.
