cdntac
My Byrdland came with light high end strings (10, 14, 18 I believe) and heavier gauge bottom end (A and D were 46 and 52). I switched today to low end 34 and 44. Now of course I get a bit of a buzz on the 12th fret of the big E. I know there is less tension with the lower gauge strings and have raised the action a bit to compesate for the buzz. But if the truss was adjusted a bit...I wonder if that would alleviate the buzz? More bow I assume? Which is loosening the truss nut, correct? And that would be --- if you were looking down the neck of the guitar from the head --- turning the truss nut counter clockwise, correct? I can leave it the way it is but I'm more curious than anything else. Plus I like tinkering with guitars too. ;) Thanks!
L5Larry
Yes on all counts. Your theory and methodology is correct.
Murph
Just a teeny, weeny bit. Say a quarter turn, then check it tomorrow. Best of luck. Murphster.
cdntac
I have it now set up pretty much how I want it. Sometime I'll take it back to my luthier and have him check it out. But I think it's set up pretty good.
