80LPC
which ones do we have to pick from? I just happen to be browsing through 'God and Goddess Monthly' (mail order catalogue), and we are spoilt for choice. The Goddesses are so much more useful than their tedious, war-mongering and vengeful male counterparts. There's around 175 Greek Goddesses alone - heavenly bodies... Thundergod
which ones do we have to pick from? Hard decision, there are so many. Just in Europe there are thousands, then we have Asia and Africa... then America and I guess Australia has its share of them too.
canon_mutant
The pure conservation of energy, without a penis, that looks nothing like me. Other than that, I'm pretty flexible and despite my sarcasm and dry sense of humor, you'd be surprised the depth of my spiritual beliefs. I just don't have many religious beliefs. It's when you mix spirituality with human ego that you get religion, my god's better than your god, and the reason for about every conflict throughout recorded history. tuckomf
I was raised in a Catholic family, and I loved the organization of it all. Then we switched to an Evangelical church, and I loved the idea of a personal relationship. Through time, though, I have come to the conclusion that even under the gaze of an omnipotent God, mankind will pick and choose to suit his best interests. I no longer go to church. I feel that the universe was created by a higher power, and that Genesis sets a rough timeline for the chain of creation - you'll notice that the world came first, and people were almost an afterthought. I don't understand how a beautiful Sunday - the day of rest - is meant to be spent waking up early to sit in a building thinking of things you could be doing. I'm not saying that's the case with everyone, that's just how it is with me. I also feel that if God wanted me to be a sheep, he would have made me that way. As it is, I'm a curious person, and I'll explore just about anything to gain a better comprehension and form my own opinion of it. There are parts of the Bible that I take issue with. Not many, but for example - Lazarus was a good person, and he died. Jesus brought him back from the dead. When he did, Lazarus didn't kick and scream to be sent back to Heaven. I think that if it's such a phenomenal place, there's no way somebody would be brought back to Earth without making some kind of fuss over it. Also, the books of the Bible weren't all first-hand accounts, which makes me wonder why some were included and some weren't. I think that all goes back to the self-serving nature of mankind. Ultimately, I have faith in God, and that Jesus must have done some amazing things to have survived the test of time as the basis for a major religion. I become skeptical when translation and exclusion come into play, and so I have become my own church in a sense - The Church of "Thank You, I Want To Get To Know You."
