So, sorry BC....................... but

this time next Friday I will be at RAH watching Eric Clapton. Can't wait.

Has anyone seen him yet on this tour? He played Dublin and Manchester this week.

I saw him in Hyde Park last year...brilliant show. Plenty of top blues, then a brilliant solo acoustic set, then a string of hits culminating in an electrifying 10min Layla followed by a version of Crossroads featuring John Mayer and Sheryl Crow.

Quite a night! You'll love it, AJ.

Enjoy! I saw the Cream reunion at RAH a few years back. What a night to remember! It's a special venue for EC that seems to bring out the best in him.

While I ain't a Clapton fan, I saw the film of one of those shows. Outrageous - it was like they had never broken up.

I would love to see them together again I was lucky enough to see Blind Faith (Aug 22 1969), WHAT A SHOW! The first act was Free, then Delaney and Bonnie, then Blind Faith, after they finished their act, Delaney and Bonnie and their horn players, joined Free with Bling Faith and they jammed for another hour till the police shut it down, after they broke up I saw Steve in a solo show and Eric a few times back in the 70's.

Winwood puts on a spectacular show.

My wife and I went to London for a few days to see the RAH shows to celebrate our 50th birthdays. We saw the Friday night show, which is featured most in that DVD. I knew we had good seats when I saw Jimmy Page sitting in the row in front of us and Paul & Ringo sitting in a box several rows behind us.

We saw the Clapton/Winwood reunion at MSG last year. Both fellows were in really good form. I'm looking forward to getting the DVD of that show, available in a few days.

The BBC showed this dvd a couple of weeks ago and I managed to work out how to record it on the Sky+ box. It was a great show and yes they were both in great form.

The RAH is an iconic venue and one of the buildings in London I always look forward to visiting. I have been very fortunate to see 2 of my sons singing at the RAH with their respective school choirs - before they both decided choirs weren't that cool. That place is great to hear choral music. Although about 20 years ago Mrs AJ and I visited Winchester Cathedral as their choir was practicing Handel's Zadok The Priest - that brought a lump to the throat it was so good.

Pleased to see there are still some Clapton fans about. Full report after the gig!

BTW Jinder, I was at Hyde Park last year as well. I hope he does some acoustic this year as well. Doyle Brammal III's band Arc Angels is EC's support on the current tour.

Despite the reviews in The Times and The Daily Telegraph, EC was on great form. Mainly a greatest hits set with a couple of covers I didn't know. He did his version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow, which will not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like it. Also the acoustic version of Layla. Finished with a cracking, if slow, version of Crossroads.

Roger, he played what suspiciously looked like a Byrdland for 2 or 3 songs, which according to the vastly overpriced programme, he played regularly in the 70s and 80s.

I also had the delightful privilege of meeting Roy Wood (The Move, ELO, Wizzard)

I would have given my left *** to attend that show! Man, I am so jealous!

Well, any review that begins like the London Times review by complaining that EC has not dressed up sufficiently for RAC is not going to end well: "it seemed odd that he should have elected to perform at this most prestigious of venues in his gardening trousers." At least the Rolling Stone review credited EC for "a brilliant performance of 'Little Queen of Spades'" and a "scorching version of 'Cocaine.'”

What I like about EC, but also find maddening, is that he'll follow his recent collaboration with Steve Winwood, where he did, indeed, play scorching versions of Little Wing, Voodoo Chile, and Double Trouble, with a more pop oriented program like his Albert Hall set list. It takes confidence to do that.

And Larry, the RAC Cream reunion was special. I also caught the reunion a couple of months later at MSG. I had great seats for that one -- 8th row center -- but the show was far from inspired. I read later that Ginger and Jack had started feuding again. EC looked very unhappy.

I've had a good run of EC show lately. I also caught the Clapton/Winwood reunion at MSG last fall. EC's playing there may have been better than at the Cream reunion. A great show. I just re-watched the show on DVD and recommend it highly.

In truth, I've not been taken by many of EC's recordings since Derek and the Dominos, but he still shows many moments of brilliance in concert, imho. He was my original guitar inspiration and I even went so far as to buy this a few years back:

and wrote a story about it for Vintage Guitar:
