cat&mouse
That looks great. I just made a mess in my pants, and it definitely wasn't brown. Is that SG yours? Looks like there is a small crack on the pickguard next to one of the screws, but that guitar looks so fabulous that it's minor. I wish I could get my hands on a maestro. She's a '64 I found on eBay with the current did at a mere $14,850.00 but damn what a sweet example of the way these SGs used to be made. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=370197197591&Category=47073&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D1
Murph
See, that's what makes the curve in the pickguard make sense. I'd buy it if I were you neogeo (yuk, yukkkk, it's easier to spend your money, pal). Can I borrow it next weekend? Thanks in advance. Murph.
Dub-T-123
of all the awesome things about that guitar one of the things that I love about it the most is the inlays. They just don't make inlays like that anymore. I was looking at a famous picture of Clapton holding the fool and of all the cool things to look at and want about these guitars I find myself just staring at the inlays. What a beautiful SG. Those just won't be available for too much longer. I feel rushed to buy one like that.
kruliosis
Wow! I want to, have to, touch it.:- You know that thing plays even better than it looks. That's how Gibson made guitars long ago. Maybe Gibson is trying to get back their Chi...with all these new low priced models and all.
hbomb76
Gibson should get well-kept, nice-bodied examples like this in-hand (or let me send them a few hundred of my photos) and make those "reissues" (both Historic AND non-Historic) do their predecessors more justice. No excuse why they couldn't make a reissue that's as attractive as the originals but with some of those more reliable "innovative" construction techniques and even some PRACTICAL modern upgrades which wouldn't detract from teh vintage-appeal. But who's gonna' make 'em see the light??? H-Bomb

But who's gonna' make 'em see the light??? H-Bomb[/quote'] Well, since the younger generation has caught the Gibson bug, it's caused a lot of problems concerning quality. If Gibson was struggling financially because of their rushed production models not selling well, then they would get on the ball and go back to greater things. Geez, I've noticed that they never even advertise in Guitar World. And that's being way over-confident! Sometimes I think that the new staff there has no idea on how to make a quality Gibson. With todays warehouse machines, you'd think they'd be better than ever before in their production line. But too many times I hear stories about some guitars being off-kilter. Not only did Gibson know how to make a great guitar, but they took pride in their name and product, striving to be the best in the business. What's wrong with this world today guys? Most new music is abominable, Hot Topic is flourishing, Green Day is considered Punk, rebellion no longer means non-conformity...rather these days it means talking **** to your parents, vinyl is pre-historic, and Limewire downloaders can now be considered fans. I'm going to blow up the world...hehehe.
Dub-T-123
H-bomb I totally agree they should make them just like they used to but don't you think they know what they used to be like better than anyone else since they made them. Also I'd bet they have plenty of vintage ones that have just sat behind glass. I apologize in advance if this offended you but I honestly meant no offense. I just can't see how they wouldn't know. I also have no idea why they changed them. I wish someone would tell me why they changed the bevels cause I'm sure deep and shallow bevels cost exactly the same to make. Also. Did the old batwing standards have the deep bevels?
