I was wondering if it is possble to make a burstbucker coil splitting by having a pro( of course) rewire the pickup for me. also does this or will it effect tone? or should i just go out and buy a pickup with a four wire lead. does gibson make one?

I don't think you can. I would just get another pickup that can be split. Seymour Duncan has a bunch and I'm sure if you go into the higher quality range you can get a really nice humbucker with 4 wires.

I wouldn't risk it on a burstbucker anyways.

You can do it but it is easy to damage the pickup... you better take it to a pro with experience in doing that, if his price is more than half of the pickup price, then you would be better off buying another pickup and keeping that one for replacement, or selling it.

actually' date=' you can change it to 4-conductor and its pretty easy if you have previous experience in opening/disassembling a humbucker.[/quote']

Do you happen to have experience with the process and maybe can give some advice here for all to learn?
