littlekenny
what do you think? Of course Led Zeppelin were fantastic throughout their carrer but there is a big difference between late 60's/early 70's zep and the later zep. To me, early Zeppelin seems more like a dirty, heavy blues band with lots of energy but also a lot of inconsistencies while later zep had more of the technical, epic songs and were more consistent from show to show. Jesus Is Dead In My Basement
I have to go with Early Zeppelin, Jimmy Page started getting extremely sloppy in his later years and Robert Plant was losing his spark. I might get some heat for this but after 71 Zeppelin slowly started turning to ****.
FirstMeasure
Later Zeppelin is more interesting from a Musical Standpoint, but none of it Grabs you like the early stuff.
cat&mouse
Early by far. I can't listen to anything after Physical Graffiti. Call me crazy but sometimes I have a hard time listening to that all the way through. I more or less pick and choose off of the double LP.

FirstMeasure
The only song Zep did that I actually Don't like is Darlene, off of CODA. But that was left over stuff so it's forgivable.

MReynolds
I hated In Through the Out Door and Coda... I was fortunate to get to see Zep in '77 at the Houston Summit... Yeah "In Through the Out Door" was that heavy synth crap and "Coda" was just the left over studio junk after the band broke up. I personally can't find anything redeeming after "Presence". I liked everything up through "Houses of the Holy" and "Presence"...after that...bleh.
Rocky4
I can't live without my '70 Albert Hall DVD. I don't even consider In Through The Outdoor a Zeppelin album. I do like Presence though. The early '70s stuff is off the chart. I would give a lung to be able to go back in time to see them live back then. JIMMY PAGE, THE GREATEST ROCK GUITARIST OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! myspace.com/jessenoah
late zep is just as epic as early zep, just not so "cream-ish blues" (which isnt to say that that was all zep was) You are not a true zeppelin fan if ALS, hot dog, NFBM, and Carouselambra dont get you off just sayin 8D
G u e s t
Hmmm..... BlackHawk233 questions the maths that gives 10:1 as 90% to 9% I am currently looking at it with 20:1 and 95% to 4% OK - case one - 11 votes gives 10/11 and 1/11 or 90.9% and 9.09% - rounds to 91% to 9% And case two - 21 votes gives 20/21 and 1/21 or 95.24% and 4.76% - rounds to 95% to 5% BlackHawk233 is absolutely right..... MReynolds not so good. SOMEBODY IS STEALING 1% OFF THE TOP (must be those pesky bankers again)
Basshole
You can tell on In Trough The Out Door' date=' the Keyboards, Bass, and Arrangement really Shine.[/quote'] Jimmy was heavy into drugs at this time. Jimmy just coundn't play as well as he could. John Paul Jones and Robert plat were essentaly "running the show" at this point. You can notice that the songs were more "progressive sounding"

But I think Zep was being influenced by Rush and Yes. Achilles Last Stand from Presence is very Rushy, and a lot of the Keyboard work on In Through The Out Door reminds me of Yes. Rocky4
late zep is just as epic as early zep' date=' just not so "cream-ish blues"(which isnt to say that [i']that[/i] was all zep was) You are not a true zeppelin fan if ALS, hot dog, NFBM, and Carouselambra dont get you off :- just sayin 8D In Through The Out Door was more or less a John Paul Jones album. Page was a no show for much of the sessions, battling heroin addiction, Bonham battling alcoholism, and Plant dealing with the death of a child. True Zep fans know that the symbol that looks like zoso isn't a word. It's a symbol with a few confusing meanings.
