I had the experience of having somebody bust through my front door at 2 am. Didn't have a gun then. but I do now.

In the words of another great lefty, harmonichaos (spelling)..

All you needed was a machete!

Duh!

Take a look at Carl Rove and tell me that POS would defend himself.

He would last longer in Texas than YOU would, I can assure you...

Looks can be deceiving - even in Texas, and Karl Rove spent many years there.

Here's a little home work assignment for you Homz.

Go down to Texas, even Liberal-infested Austin would work but I recommend Dallas or Houston.

Go hang out at a gun range during the week.

Take a look at the people coming to the range wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase.

Care to make the same ****** mistake in judgment many criminals do?

Hunting Pistols

I have to agree. I see no other use for them' date=' [b']there are better things to use if you go hunting[/b], a handgun is useless for anything but killing people at close range.

I didnt say they didnt work for hunting, only that there are better things.

Anyway, Im considering buying a gun, what would you guys recommend? It would stay at home and be only for home protection.

If your only going to use it in the house' date=' get a shotgun.[/quote']

Good advice!:- I have close to none experience with handguns and shotguns, though. The only times I've used any was when I was a kid, my uncle would let me come along when he went practicing with his (awesome collection of) firearms of all allowed types (he had some awesome stuff). Sometimes he let me fire a couple of rounds, he had some friends in the military and I got to fire a machinegun once (dont know the correct term). My father had 2 guns but never let me near them.

I guess I'll have to find a place to practice:-k

Man I lived in Texas. Lancaster, TX; just south of Dallas. My territory was the entire state. I've been all over the state. I don't know who the hell you think I am, but unlike you I don't wear my politics on my sleeve. And BTW in north Dallas there are plenty of liberals. I never had an issue with politics in Texas. In fact if I could pick any state to live in I'd choose Texas.

I was sitting three rows up from 3rd base when Nolan Ryan threw his 7th no hitter (Arlington; Texas Rangers). Damn, dude, help me out here, but weren't you born on the wrong side of the Red River. The only people the Texans hate more then Yankees is people from Oklahoma.

Then what happened to you?

I'm well aware of that. I have friends and family in every corner of the state.

Yeah' date=' but would they let you stay?

Okay, you have indeed been there....

What kind of house do you live in?

12 ga. shotgun is your best bet, loaded with #6 buckshot.

Get some sort of tactical model with a high capacity, and you only need 2.75" shells.

Shorter is better.

If you have neighbors nearby, or your walls are thin like stucco, siding or tile then you damned sure don't want a pistol.

That bullet has your name on it, and if it stops in your neighbor's house.....

Most homes have concrete walls over here (never figured out why, no tornados or hurricanes here :-k ), also my neighbour's door is 1/4 mile from mine so I don't think there will be a problem there.

You guys sure a shotgun is better? I can no longer tell when you are just kidding:-"

So instead of running away to California or joining the circus' date=' you went to Indiana and joined the union?

My job ended in Texas. My skills at the time were less (by far) then they currently are. I moved back home for a time. My dad put my name in at the UAW factory and I took the job. 3 years later I was able to put my Navy training into use and was apprenticed into skilled trades. My father was a UAW. My grand father(paternal) was a Teamster. Nearly everyone I grew up with was Union. If it somehow makes you feel better to help destroy organized labor then by all means have fun with that, but make no mistake you are also hurting millions of others. Not just me. How moral is that.

BTW on to another point. Our other guitarist is a Neo fan. I tell him your just a half wit, but he like you. Go figure. :-k

With no close neighbors to worry about, get a revolver in .357 magnum and load it with a good quality hollow point.

I like the Rugers, Smith & Wesson is great stuff too.

Shotgun is better in a panic, you're more likely to hit your intended target and it will more likely be lethal.

I do not joke about firearm recommendations, it's already a world full of misconceptions.

What do the laws in your country allow?

Handguns are usually taboo, reserved only for law or military - shotguns are slightly more accepted by most gov't agencies.

How much would a barret .50 caliber sniper rifle go for at any gun dealer? I have wanted one ever since the Army let me shoot one.

JIDIMB, what stopped you from joining?

A .50 is kinda like a Les Paul - how much do you wanna spend?

Bolt-action guns are $2k and up, the one like the M1982 (semi-auto) is around $8k.

Then there's the cost of care and feeding the beast....

If it somehow makes you feel better to help destroy organized labor then by all means have fun with that' date=' but make no mistake you are also hurting millions of others.[/quote']Labor unions choke the life from the companies they rely on.

Do you see babies choking their mothers as they breast feed?

I didn't do it to ya Homz....

How moral is that.
You're mixing your metaphors.

What's right about strong-arming your company until they just give you whatever it takes to keep you from striking?

What's right about preserving jobs of those who NEED to be fired - then restricting the ability of others to excell and get themselves promoted? Argue the merits of organized labor all you want' date=' I've been in it or right beside it for 30 years.

Lawsuits and courts have taken the role of "equalizer" from you, decades ago.

Give him my best!
