badguitarist91
I'm wanting to sell my original 1990 Gibson Les Paul Studio for $1000. I'm looking for something else. She has been real good to me, but I'm ready for a change. She is used, so be aware, she has her fare share of battle scars. Discoloration from sitting in a case or hung on a wall stand when not being played. A bit of fret ware but not too bad for a 19 year old guitar. Great ebony fret board with hardly any ware at all, which is weird. Plays lovely, like a Les Paul should do. She does come with the original hard shell case. I will have it professionally setup with strings of your choice, if you should buy it. Thank you for your time.

Jesus Is Dead In My Basement
I can get a brand new studio for $799.
Flight959
$1000 is kinda steep for a used studio... I would imagine you have stuck a price tag of 1K on this because she is worth every penny, and if that's the case then may I make a suggestion.... don't sell it, as you will only ending up regretting it...after all its been faithful for 19yrs... crossroadsnyc
Yeah, that's priced way too high. Unless you can find someone who has no idea what they are talking about, or someone who hasn't even so much as investigated how much a new one is, you'll have to cut your asking price nearly in half. Also, given the fact that you said it's beat up, that could bring the price down even more ... people will pay more for an artificially aged guitar, but not one that's simply beat up due to use (unless of course the value of the guitar is quite substantial). Honestly, for the price you'll likely receive, I'd be more apt to just keep it and enjoy it. Guitars can look a hell of a lot better after they are put away under the bed for a little while and missed.
Slogold
This is the wrong place to sell a overpriced used LP Studio. Try CL you might get lucky.
Thundergod
The finish seems to have aged nicely, dont sell her unless you really need to. And even then, the price is a little too high IMO.
Tim Plains
That being a 20 year old guitar, I'd say you're asking price is reasonable but incase I'm out to lunch on this one, you should check completed listings on eBay to see what other Studios from around 1990 are selling for. I can get a brand new studio for $799. I can buy a new '59 reissue for $5,000 or a real '59 Les Paul for $250,000. What's your point? That Studio probably sounds better than any new Studio you'd find in a music store.

It feels and plays a lot better than these new Les Pauls. After all, she comes from an era when Gibson still made real guitars. Are you guys saying I should gut myself on the price of this great guitar. That is what she is worth. I would feel bad for selling her, but I'd feel absolutely raped for anything less than $1000. Big Bill
That is a nice guitar, ya can't help but love the color. I agree, you should hold onto it if you can.
loneguitar
I sold a '95 Wine Red Studio with Ebony fretboard on Ebay for 1100. last year, but regret it, she was sweet and was very fast. If you really need to sell her do so but, I bet you'll end up regretting it in the long run.
aj
I'm wanting to sell my original 1990 Gibson Les Paul Studio for $1000. I'm looking for something else. She has been real good to me' date=' but I'm ready for a change. ...[/quote'] I have to agree with both sides... 1k seems steep. I bought my NIB wine/gold studio last October for a little less than that. The pragmatic in me says why spend more on used white one than on new white one? If you must sell, price it closer to what you paid than the retail of a new white studio. Given you bought it a number of years ago, the cost has long since been absorbed into your budget....so anything you make will be profit, and someone will get a good guitar for under new retail. I also agree that, unless you are in need of cash, hang on to it. You'll miss it one day
KSG_Standard
In my experience, I've always wished I hadn't sold any of my guitars. If you can afford to, I'd suggest keeping this axe. I have 2 LPs from 1990 and I love them.

Eracer_Team
I just did a quick check of about 5 different citys on craig's and the low was about $600 and the high about $1100 for studio's, average seemed to be right on the $1000 mark. if you're selling due to financial reasons.... bad idea... even if its pumping gas....
