Oh. Im not an owner of a gibson. i started playin last year. im looking for a guitar to move up to and thats why i joined the forum, to figure out what i want because what i got is a piece of junk made by ibanez. Im on a tight on money cause im 16 and jobless. im homeschooled, school is about 4 hours long for me, so i have lots of time to play my guitar. ive looked at several ideas for a new guitar. i play different styles, mainly rock and metal. several people in my family play music. so they inspired me to play. people on my dads side say im related to jerry lee lewis but i dont blieve them because they say hes alive but ive never met him so. thats about all i can think of music related.

Well if you're from Winnsboro LA you are in the right area for sure so you could be related.

All are welcome here. It doesn't matter what age or experience level. Just play nice and follow the rules of the forum.

As I stated earlier, Epiphones are an incredible value for the price. Especially for entry to intermediate level players. I love mine. For the budget conscious player such as your self, you could do much, much, worse.

And, I know Thundergod has rebuilt a few of them into some really nice instruments.

Well that is a tuff one to answer for many reasons. My best answer for you would be to find a store that carries several brands and models and play as many as you can until you find a combination of one that:

A. Speaks to you

B. One you feel comfortable with

C. One that you feel you like the sound you get from it.

D. One you can afford.

That mission could take a while. Don't be in a rush. Don't let your money burn a hole in your pocket. (I know, I probably sound like a dad) That is the surest way to find something you will ultimately regret buying. Don't be talked into anything you are not 100% comfortable with. If your conscious says "I'm not sure." Listen to it.

And for the record, there is nothing wrong with Ibanez guitars. Many pro players have used them over the years with great success.

Thats a problem i live in the middle of no where. the nearest guitar shop is an hour away and i have impatient overprotective parents. which means they wont be up for sittin around watchin me play guitar after guitar. But its worth a shot.

What's your budget? I would go for an epi special II as a starter (to begin with les paul shaped guitars and see if you like it). If you have a little more you can go with an epi les paul studio or even an epi G400 (sg) they are IMO the best at that range price.

But im steping up from an ibanez gio which isnt as bad as everyone says it is. i can hit idols and anchors by parkway drive perfect on it. but stil i need something better. i play 2 to 3 hours daily so i need somethimg better.

LOL...some people (purists) think that "Real Epiphones" were only made in New York, or later, by Gibson, in Kalamazoo (prior to 1970).

I have both Vintage Epi ('66 Casino) and Asian-American (made in Japan, but "Assembled in USA") Sheraton, as well as a Korean Riviera (with mini's), a Japanese '61 SG with Gibson headstock shape (Epiphone Japan, last made in 2006), and a recent Chinese Riviera P-93LE! ALL...are fantastic guitars, by themselves, regardless of country of origin. I DO wish all Epi's were still made here, but then...they'd be priced like Gibsons! And, as they are, they're great "bang for the buck" instruments...some even outstanding, regardless of price. The now defunct (save the Casino) "Elitist" Epi's were amazing, really. So...it's more than possible to find a great Epi, on the net...but, as always "buyer beware!" Garner as much info, and photographic information as you can, prior to sale.

I've had (so far) decent luck with E-bay sellers, but that's not always the case, unfortunately.

Cheers,

CB
