tomdice
and I was curious if anyone has information on whether the description I was given about the guitar true. The description states that in 1980 it was "rare" to manufacture a Ebony Les Paul Custom with all Chrome hardware. Any truths to that at all? I've already looked up the serial number and it said that my guitar was made June 4th 1980 and was the 259th in production. Also when I received the guitar it has a Seymour Duncan 59 N PAF Pickup in the neck, was that a mod someone added later or a standard in that production year? Thanks! Tim Plains
The pickup must be aftermarket. I think it's just a regular black Custom that somebody at some point took off the gold hardware and replaced it with chrome. The reason I say this is because your binding is the regular yellowish colour found on 99.9% of the Black Beauties out there. This Black Beauty is the exception. As you can see, the binding is white. Just like on a Silverburst. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Custom-Les-Paul-Custom-Electric-Guitar-512965-i1175483.gc
