Luap
Hi everyone! Just a question: how do I remove the Vol/Tone knobs on my 335? I tried pulling, with a bit of force they didn't want to come off. Thanks!
bluzhammer
Go to mojomusical supply.com, they have a tutorial on hollow body electronics swapping. The guy pulls the knobs off with a rag.
Ken Rayba
I remember removing mine, I just pulled them off. I have a 05' ES 335 Ebony. It came with the black speed dial type knobs, I didn't like them. I purchased the old style "top hat" knobs with the chrome face and installed them. They sure look better on an ebony finished ES 335. It brings out the nickel finish on the pick ups and bridge. kaicho8888
Sometimes they are hard to pull out.... you can use a shoe string wrap a few turns around the base and pull up...same with an old Tshirt... place under the knob and pull up. Just incase somebody replaced the original knobs...make sure the knobs do not have set screws on the side.
PKAZ
use two spoons from your silverware drawer. with the rounded sides down and the tips just underneath the edges. push down on the handles. the knobs pop right off!
AlanC
Easiest and safest way is to use the Gibson polish cloth or equivalent, put it underneath the knob and then lift straight up. By using the cloth there can be no mistakes that end up damaging the guitar. Don't use anthing metal its just not necessary. I've removed the knobs on a few guitars and it's dead easy.
