bubba_leon
Today I bought the Gibson brand tulip machine heads (made by Grover)for my GT LP Classic, and went to install then, and they don't fit! I thought being an authentic Gibson replacement there wouldn't be any issues. The shaft is to thick for the hole. Has anyone out there replaced their LP Classic tuners with any success? Someone at the shop said Sperzels retrofit without modification. I'm a little puzzled.
Andre S
Well.the only thing that I can think of is that you may have bought the regular tulip tuners, with a cuboid shaped cover over the gears. The tuners on the Classic are the vintage ones, with a cuboid shape that has curved edges, thats the only thing. Make sure the shape is exactly the same or you mayt have gotten the ones that come on like the studios

Andre S
Im not sure..then cos I am not sure of the size of those shafts. But on the brightside you should not have to drill a hole for the screw again : )

I don't want to drill, If I ever wanted to go back to the original tuners that option will be history. Man and those factory bushings are a beast to get out!
