MapleManiac
Obviously where we are dictates the results. If you asked the same question on the Martin forum square shoulders would win in a landslide.
ajsc
Obviously where we are dictates the results. If you asked the same question on the Martin forum square shoulders would win in a landslide. I think you are correct,,,,,,,,Martin round shoulder guitars cost a fortune!! It takes a lot of money to buy a Gibson copy!!
Al Zimmerman
I'll go with the square shoulders!!! Once had a round J45, but it was not for me. Now, my Hummingbird is another story! Regards, AL

houlet
All my life I've been the odd man out! I like square - but then I'm old enough to be one>
yaz1009
Gotta say square... I have a 96 J-30 Rosewood that is so well balanced, full across the freqs with grand sustain. It was hand picked out of a slew of guitars and is really special. That said... I have my ears on a 2007 AJ that is calling my name really loudly!! Has been since I played it last week. guitom
If we're talking Gibsons, and we are, I have to say round. Although I did play a J-30 I should've bought.
onewilyfool
For me.....I prefer square shoulders, for Gillian Girl....I prefer round shoulders...
eltonwce
I have both a 72 Square and a 07 Round. Both sound and play well. Square a little less bass maybe? I would not get rid of either of them. Also have an AJ and J-100 , Blues King. They all sound good. Each has its own character. I don't think the shape has as much to do with it as much as the wood , age, action, strings. When I record my self It is hard to tell which guitar I used when it comes to the J-45's
Flinx
It's hip to be square! I've tried slope shoulders w/short scale, and square shoulders w/long scale. Square shouldered guitars w/long scale lengths are my favorite. Flinx
Jinder
I like 'em both! I've owned some stunning J45s, but my Hummingbird is a Squarey Mary and is the greatest sounding acoustic guitar I've ever owned, so I'll go Square for a dare.
