mikeys4u
I own a very clean 74 SG with Grovers that will not stay in tune. It is strung properly and was wondering what, if anything, I could do for a fix such as change tuners.
Dub-T-123
the problem usually lies in the nut. A classic easy fix is to get graphite from a regular pencil and put it in the grooves in the nut. To do this just get a pencil and paper and a knife. Use the knife to scrape the graphite into a powder onto the paper. Then you can fold the paper to funnel it into the slots. You really don't even need to change the strings you can just loosen them and pull them out of the way. If you recently restrung it did you stretch the strings? Also with an old guitar (I'm not an expert but) it may be something with the neck/truss rod. If this is the case you should take it to a good thech and it should be no problem.
