Sonex pic for Rocketman

Here's my LP Sonex 180 Custom. My friend Wendy gave me this guitar almost a year ago and she's almost finished.

If you think she looks beat up now, you should have seen when I got her. She was found in a dumpster 15 years ago (in Hawaii) and was rescued and brought to San Francisco. The guy who found her spray painted her blue and tried to create a tie dyed effect on the top with red. Needless to say it was a really bad job! I got a new pickguard, and covered the pickups which I rewired without the coil split. She's in the stage of primering and I plan to restore the original aged white finish soon.

The bridge posts had to be retro-fitted because the old style ones are no longer made.

The serial and pickups indicate that she was made on September 23 1980. I'll post more once she is completed.

Thanks guys. I'm considering actually changing the pickups to the ones I took off my Goltop LP Classic . The Dirty Fingers that she came with are just too aggressive, even more so than the 500t. I'm more of a 57 and Pearly Gates kinda player!

Hey Bubba, that's looking alright. My first electric was a Sonex 180 Deluxe I bought in '83. Pretty good guitar, even with those original pickups. I haven't played that guitar in a decade, but now you've got me itching. Keep up the goid work and show us the final results.
