Bruno690 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I have found (2) LP stuidos, one is White (Classic White?) with the ebony FB and the other is Wine Red with Gold harware. They are 2007 NOS at a local music store. I did not get the chance to play them yet, but they are cheap!!!!! Am I giving up anything in an LP Studio? Should I wait and get a Standard/Traditional? Keep in mind...I am coming from 2 strats and a Luke. I have not owned a Gibby in years and that was an SG.
MikeRom Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Nicer tops, unbound neck & body, different pickups, only available with a 50's neck, that's about it. As you can see there are some specatcular looking studio's out there. Me, I like those things and I would wait if it was me buying.
Andre S Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 if looks are ectremely important to you then go ahead and wait, but if you dont mind the unbound look go for the studio, but i would wait for the standard, or traditional, cos there is a 50's neck standard for 1799 too. Check out my thread with pics of lp studio in wine red, i completely changed the parts, and have plans to change electrics,. but keep in mind i only started guitar a two years, ago and got my lp a year ago, so i didnt need such an expensive axe like the standard,
Andre S Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 oh yea and most importantly, play them first, i didnt, but still loved my lp's feel and sound, though i want to change it ( pickups)
Bruno690 Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 I like the 50s neck and I think I can live without binding. I know they have different pups than standards and such. But are the electronics and HW the same?

That is why I am so tempted. At 1300 I would just spend a but more for standard/trad.

If they're under a grand, you can't go wrong IMO. The Studio is a rock beast and plays just as well as a Standard. If you don't mind the slightly fatter 50s neck and no binding, what's to stop you. You'd be very lucky to find any decent Standard for under $2000.
loneguitar Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 All the other things are just bling, if the guitar sings to you, that's all that's important.....

But are the electronics and HW the same? +1 to the above. Under a grand - watch it go! I like the neck on my '07 LP Studio Premium Plus better than my '05 Ebony Custom! No electronic issues for me' date=' can't speak on the details, sorry. I got the Studio for $814 and it was brand new sitting in the store for almost 2 years! Grab it! Bruno690 Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 For the record, I didn't buy either. I went yesterday to play them. The white one was gone and the wine red, needed a set-up badly.
loneguitar Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 HiLife, nice looking Lady there, I love the natural finish....
tulsaslim Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Were it not for those '50s necks I'd probably own at least one Studio right now. Can't do the fat neck, though.
