bubba_leon Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I recently replaced the bridge pickup in my Goldtop Classic with a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates. So far I love it, but my neck (496r) pickup is louder and hotter than the bridge now. SO I'm thinking about replacing the neck ,with the neck version of the same. I'm also considering the SH-1 option as well as the Gibson 57 Classic anybody out there with these combos care to share their experiences?
marcbc Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Hey Dude Im a huge fan of the pearly gates. i put it in my Epiphone sheraton and i love it. i matched it with a gibson 57 and it sounds good to me. i think that combo in a goldtop will be great! it will be a very versastle machine!
dmeds Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I have SD Pearly Gates in the neck of my Epi LP and I couldn't be happier. The tones range from smooth and jazzy, bluesy to classic rock. A sweet pu for any LP.
bubba_leon Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Thanks guys. I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on the Pearly Gate neck pickup.
Squeezie Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Haha that's funny cause I was just over at GC last weekend and picked up a LP Classic with the same pickup combination..
bubba_leon Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Haha that's funny cause I was just over at GC last weekend and picked up a LP Classic with the same pickup combination.. With a 496 in the neck? Or Pearly in the bridge and neck?
Squeezie Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 It had the 496 in the neck and a Seymour Duncan in the bridge position. I am not sure but I think it was the Pearly Gate.
MidniteRider Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I use a Pearly Gate but it is in the neck. The pickup is patented in that position. I get the most amazing tone out of it there. In the bridge I run a Gibson Burstbucker 3. It is equally amazing. 1990 LP Studio. Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 401c amp.
