dem00n
In the mid 80s I stumbled across an apartment sale in Chicago's DePaul neighborhood and immediately noticed a chipboard guitar case leaning in the corner. Upon opening the case I discovered what turned out to be a 1966 Gibson SG Jr. with an added Badass bridge but' date=' other than that, remarkably clean in a sweet cherry finish. I asked "how much?” the young lady demurely said “$10”, I quickly paid her and left. This single pick-up beauty became my “couch” guitar, you know, the one that’s always next to wear you sit for easy pickin’ and noodlin’ while watching TV. Anyway, long story short, a few years later I attended a Vintage Guitar show with my prize and was very quickly accosted by some professional guitar buyers and just as quickly sold her for $400. So, even though I “stole” her and made a tidy sum, I miss her and these things now get tall $$$$$. Oh well! I won’t tell you about the house I bought a few years later where the owners left an early 70s SG and a Japanese 12-string……… [/quote'] I want to hear the other story! RJLII
Okay - No snide remarks................. A 1982 Peavey T-60 Solid Body. Ugly as sin. Amazing fit and finish. The broadest tone spectrum of any guitar I've ever played. You could cop Strat, Tele, SG, and any other solidbody tones short of a fat Les Paul neck pickup tone. The pickup circuit was unique. The tone controls would start you out in single coil mode at 10, then roll in one of the humbucker coils from 10 to 5, then function like a normal HB tone control from 5 to 0. Kind of like a variable coil split. Peavey also added a phase switch so you could select which single coil of the humbucker was on in single coil mode. Gibson used a similar circuit on the GK-55, less the phase switch.
cookieman15061
1965 Gretsch Country Gentleman' date=' 1966 Epiphone Casino (my first one), 1968 Gibson LP Custom, '68 SG Standard, 1968 Gibson ES-355 (cherry red), 1968 Rickenbacker 360-12-string (Jetglow), 6-Vox Super Beatle amps, and Altec Lansing "Voice of the Theater" PA system...a 1969 Marshall "Major" 200watt Full Stack (Tall boy cabinets), 1967 Fender Twin Reverb JBL. Yeah, that about covers it! Everything since then, I've kept. I only sold all that stuff, because then, and for 3 decades afterward, I didn't play at all. And, back then...there was no such things as "Vintage" guitars/amps...they were just 'used!" Who knew?!! ;>b LOL! CB [/quote'] CB you're makin me cry. jnastynebr
I never really sold any gear, but traded a bunch of stuff. At one point in time I had 4 Stratocasters that I traded. The only one that I miss was a 95 MIM black rosewood. They don't make the Mexican strats like they used to!
heymisterk
Guild Bluebird. Dare I say I liked it more than my Paul, but was blinded by the stupid GIBSON logo more than I should have been.
HiLifeRocker
I sold a Yngwie Malmsteen USA model - fully scalloped neck, re-fretted with jumbo Dunlop 6100 frets ... I miss it - had a connection to it due to recording some really emotive work with it. I may eventually get another but with a maple fretboard! Silverbursted
I don't have any sellers remorse. Although if there was one I might feel a little regret for selling, it would probably be my 07 Silverburst Standard, because it was the last year Gibson made a full bodied Standard. I'm VERY happy with my present line up.
Thin_Lizzy
My first guitar, a Hohner Pro L59 in tobacco sunburst. It played lovely and had nice tiger stripes.

RJLII
There was one other one that got away........... A 1951 ES-175 with original case. I bought it from a guy in 1990 for $300. In 1992 I took it to Elderly Instruments in Lansing and traded it for a new 40th anniversary Les Paul. The LP was stolen in a break-in at my home this past March. I'd really like to have that ES-175 back.
tulsaslim
"In the mid 80s I stumbled across an apartment sale in Chicago's DePaul neighborhood" My old neighborhood. Love that place. Unfortunately they tore down my old building to build a housing project back in the '70s. I always visit the old neighborhood every time I go back to Chi, though. charlie brown
Wow! So which guitar do you miss the most? Yeah..."Wow!" is right! Unbelievable, that I had all that gear at one time, but I was in a "midwest" touring band, then...and had the bank note, for all the gear, except the drums, other player's guitars, and the Keyboards... (1-C-3 Hammond, and 2 "Tall boy" leslies) owned by the keyboard player. When the band "broke up," I retained all that gear, and sold most of it, to help pay off the note. As to which guitar I miss the most?! All of them! But...probably the ES-355, a bit more than the others...maybe?! CB
