dunc1981 Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Hi, im new to this forum and wondered if anyone can help me... i purchased a 335 in nov last year"2008" from a big guitar shop"gak" over the net. Id seen a couple of gibsons before "les pauls" and noticed the serial no and U.S.A stammped quite deep on the headstock But mine is almost not stammped, the usa is smooth the ser no is alittle rough looks more like ink than a stamp..is this how ES'S are???? many thanks
Volt Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 On both my ES-339 and ES-335 that were made in 2007 and 2009 respectively the serial number looks like it may be black ink underneath the lacquer finish. Neither of them say "U.S.A." anywhere on the headstock, but have a "Gibson Custom Shop" decal on them.
01 335 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I have an '01 335, an '06 335, an '06 Les Paul and an '04 Melody Maker. Only the '06 335 has a light stamp that appears to be inked. The others are deep stamps in the wood.
