Bluesburst
OK, So how many here would like to see Gibson do a release of this beast in their limited run series this (or next) year? And by that, I mean how many could AND would buy one if it was releases at reasonable (i.e. NOT Custom Shop ) pricing? For the purists / collectors & any future Custom Shop releases, I would be more than happy for it not to be Korina and a natural finish. Perhaps the Transparent Amber like the original GOW Reverse V and the Vibrola Explorers or even in 50's colors, pastel Blue. Green, Vintage white etc. It would be nice with P-90's but MUST a fat neck and have the classic "club" style headstock. I would and could get one at pricing of a new standard V or Explorer plus an extra 15-25% premium for the wow factor. How about it Gibson? While your at it, a Futura would be nice also. DeVinci13
What I don't get about Gibson is they bring out the Holy V and Holy Explorers, and the hideous tribal Vs and Explorers (only 15 years to late), yet they will not release guitars that people actually would buy or have stated they would purchase. It is like they trust some 50 year old marketing person who has never played an instrument vs their guitar playing and buying public.

Corrosion of conformity
I've always been intrigued by the Moderne models, but I don't think I like the design enough to actually buy one.
L5Larry
There's a reason they never have been reissued, they were never ISSUED in the first place. One of my published sources says that 19 Modernes were made in '58 and another 9 in '59 (do the math, that's 28 total in the universe). But there has never been a authenticated '50's Moderne turn up ANYWHERE, nodda, nottin, none. So what happened to these guitars? It was decided that this was a bad idea, and they were made to disappear. If you want a Moderne, buy two Epi V's, find a good woodworker, and have him (or her) cut up the second one and add the pieces to the first one (headstock and treble side neck joint area), and then do then contour to the bottom. Gibson is NOT going to reissue a guitar that they never issued in the first place, legend (myth) or not. The only documentation that exist for this guitar is patent drawings, they were never produced. At the time, they only produced the V and Explorer for about 2 1/2 years, and they didn't sell either. It was a wise decision at the time to kill the Moderne, it would not be a wise business decision to try to build some now. If you think you need one, read the second paragraph above! And let's face it, Gibson are in it to make money. I'm sure even Gibson would admit they were surprised by the reaction to the Reverse V. It sold and no small part of that was the reasonable price. I won't be letting mine go I'm convinced if they released a Moderne in their limited run series, all 350 would disappear if sold at Explorer / V prices with a little bit added. No need for the Custom Shop, Gibson USA would be just fine. The only mystery is why they haven't done it since 1982 My cynical mind sees a build up for an Expensive Custom Shop run like they did with the Futura last year. I hope somewhere down the track one of those Futura's pops up at a nice price Here's a great Blues piece played on an 08 Futura on YouTube: Here's Hoping!!! codyyy
Yes please, I'll either take one in the stock korina, or a black one, gold hardware, white pickguard, to follow suit of the Flying V and Explorer.
