jnastynebr Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 If you want to crunch your tubes without blowing the windows out or getting a visit from the police, you should check this out: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/THD-Hot-Plate-Attenuator?sku=481283 I have used one for a few weeks now, and it has made me a believer. Its great for small gigs, recording, or playing at home without your wife screaming at you. I don't know how I got along without it. I have not used a drive petal since I brought this puppy home.
deepblue Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Youre preaching to the choir my friend! I love my Hotplate. Creamy sustain at a low volume.
VBB Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 The only drawback to the hot plate is that you need one for every different ohm rating. So if you have different amps or speaker ratings, you'll need more than one. Weber has one that works for any ohm rating, it is a little noisy but not much and if using for practice it's good. Cheaper too. I do lke the HP better, but they should make them with an adjustment
GuitarJunkie Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 If your amp is 45 watts or under, this bad-boy works with 4, 8, or 16 ohms AND it's only $169.
The Mick Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 The weber uses a real speaker motor http://www.tedweber.com/atten.htm Eye have the Mass Lite 100 for my 50 watt JMP
cvansickle Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 There's no way I could play at home without a HotPlate.
Kimolas Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 My Peavey Windsor Studio has an attenuator built-in, and I couldn't imagine playing without one!
