Hi Guys! I am new to the Gibson Forums and would be very glad if you could help resolve my problem. I have very limited knowledge of guitars, I got interested in the Gibson Dark Fire since its launch but hesitated due to the problems most of the customers experienced from the guitar. Well taking a look at the other Dark Fire forums I realized a newer better version is in the works.

Well I wanted to buy the dark fire in coming two three weeks

1) Is it possible to buy the new dark fire in this time span?

2) Is it going to be free of all the problems faced in the previous version?

3) Is the price going to be the same?

4) Which is the best place to buy it from, is Guitar Center the best?

5) Do we still have to Redeem the RIP unit?

5) Will Gibson directly ship the guitar to Pakistan?

Welcome to the forum.

I'll try to answer a few of your questions.

2) The known problems should be gone with the Dark Fire's produced since May 2009.

3) The price will increase.

5) The RIP is included with the new production run.

6) I don't think so. Please look here:

http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Dark-Fire/Buy-Now.aspx?mappath=/Support/Dealers/North-America

You'll have to find a dealer, who ships outside the USA. Be cautious, Gibson grants no warranty, if you don't buy from an authorized Gibson dealer and also, if you are not the original buyer.

Delivery in Europe, for example, is estimated between end of June and August

A couple dealers on eBay have been selling DF's for $2995 (plus 50-70 in shipping) -- as always, check backgrounds and previous sales carefully before you buy. Some others there are between $3300 and 3400. I certainly wouldn't go over this. So far, I haven't seen any new ones on Best Buy or Guitar Center (online) but calling might produce better results. I might seriously consider BB if you have one in your area with the new music stores -- they can get one from another store in a few days (assuming some BB some place has one) and you have 30 days to return it if by some weird chance you don't like it.

So does that mean that I have to wait for a month or two to get the new version? Is there any specified release date for the new Dark Fire? I am a little out of time so can I order a brand new previous Dark Fire model is there one available in the market? Since I won't be there myself to buy the guitar is there any easy way to ensure the dark fire is free of problems?

Has anyone received the new version yet, any idea how much more it will cost?

Appreciate your response guys Thanks a lot!

The latest version has been shipping from Nashville since May 6 2009

If you find one - be sure it arrived at your dealer after that date.

If its earlier- than May 2009 - its the old 1st generation model.

I'd like to give warning about those DF's for sale on ebay. I have been in email contact with the person selling the 2995 version. Seems like a great price and I was going to buy one...but be warned, he's not a Gibson dealer...nor are any of the others. I asked him/her if Gibson would honor the warranty if I bought from them and they told me "no". They also won't give me any pictures of the serial number. On another note...I've been able to get a DF on order from Gibson 2 days ago...for 3199.
