Philippe55js
Hi, I got some questions about the legendary SG model guitar. 1. does this guitar could have a floyd rose on it? 2. I'm buildding a guitar, and I want to know if a guitar like this could be easy to build? This are the questions for now on.
Dub-T-123
You could put a floyd rose on it. I've seen pictures of Iommi with a floyd equipped SG. With that being said I wouldn't recommend it. It would require extensive drilling and routing. As far as making one it depends on what kind of skill and tools you have. Either way I doubt it would be easy. It could be cool though. Corrosion of conformity
I don't know much about making guitars, but I imagine making a close replica of a Gibson SG would be a very difficult and time-consuming job, the best of luck to you if you decide to go through with it! Twiz
I don't think the body is thick enough to accommodate a Floyd Rose. Routing the cavity for the springs would probably cut into where your pickups are. Just put a Bigsby on it.
Nick Beach
if you want a floyd I wouldn't think a bigsby would satisfy you. But I'm going to say you could put a floyd on it, but you wouldn't be able to use very large strings because that would call for more springs in the back to even out the tension and I don't think that would be very comfortable. Because of the thinness of the body you would have to leave the springs exposed. but it would take A LOT of routing and such to get a SG ready for a Floyd. Philippe55js
Thanks for all the anwser, and I think I will do the SG guitar with the floyd rose on it.... When I finish it I'll put some picture on the forum. I Have all ready finish a guitar, I did my own Eddie Van Halen Replica Guitar, and I think I did have very good results and I did it by my self. I will do the SG model guitar because I think this is the next level building guitars, and I want to have good results. Wish me luck. If you got any Imformation of how to build the guitar, please tell me.

Geff
If you are building from scratch, then presumably you could use a slightly thicker body than is standard on the real thing in order to more easily accomodate the Floyd Rose.
BigKahune
1. does this guitar could have a floyd rose on it? Check these pics out: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/msg/1190737493.html Looks like it will fit. You could cover the spring cavity with a plastic plate. Dub-T-123
I don't think the "thinness" would be a problem. Look at how thin many of Ibanez's guitars are that are equipped with a big locking bridge. To me it's more of a question of whether you think it's worth it or not. Also for some reason drilling in the crucial area under the nut (for a locking nut) seems like it would compromise it's strength.
