onewilyfool
KSdaddy.....when you repair a guitar, does it hurt the guitar to take the strings off for a prolonged period of time, you know, leaving the neck without string tension? I have a guitar that has a fairly long horizontal crack in a mahogany side, that I need to cleat, and I have to take the strings off, to doe the work, to let it dry, etc, etc......Just wondering.....thanks....Wily
ksdaddy
I don't believe it hurts anything in the long term. My only observation is that it will have an adjustment period once it's strung up again. For one, you're re-introducing tension on the neck and it will take a while for it to settle in. Another thing that I can't prove, but the tone is likely to be off for a few days. Some jump right to life, others take a while.
