Gibson Les paul GoldTop VOS Paf serial

knock

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm new here!

I'm currently negociating to buy a reedition of the 57 GoldTop Les Paul.

Till this point all things add up but i'dd like a serial number confirmation.

The guitar serial is 751053

As far as I am able to understand it seams to be the nº1053 57Gold top made in 2005, am I correct?

I find it a little strangeto be such a big number: 1053 57Goldtop reeditions that year so I'm a little confused at the moment.

Also another thing: The guitar is in mint condition. Is it a good deal to buy it for 2100€?

Can you help please?

Thanx

Is that the complete serial number ?

Goto the following website for details :

Good luck.

No info with that serial at the link you've provided. I've tried out with one LP I have now and it finds it correctly.

I've read that for Reeditions like this on the serial number is not the 8 numbers but MYXXXX so it woul be 751053: A reissued 1957 GoldTop made im 2005 and it wold be the 1053 instrument to be stamped... but I have my doubts.

Should I put a CS before the 751053?

I've seen that some of thise VOS Re-issued LP's have 5 or 6 numbers on the serial , MYXXX(X) Model, Year, numbers... like so http://www.guitarsale.com/Gibson-Historic-1957-Les-Paul-Goldtop-Reissue--i226170.music

...but I would like to be sure that this one is a Authentic Gibson and not a fake made somewhere...

Any more ints that could help?

The guitar I'm talking about is this one: http://www.gibsoncustom.com/flash/products/lespauls/57/1957Goldtop.html

Guitar Dater doesn't handle custom Shop numbers so you just have to check it out through the Gibson site. The 1053 refers to the total number of all Custom models not just the 57 Gold Top. So it would be the 1053 Custom model for 2005, which is probably a reasonable number.

Yes, it makes sence, but I'll know for sure when I receive a reply from the gibson service. Better late than crying... :-k

As far as value goes' date=' you can get a guaranteed, authentic R7 VOS GT from Thomann for €2699.

www.thomann.de

Its your call.

With VAT the V.O.S. 1957 is a litle more than that. But you are right it's not a great diference, the price must come down a few undreds!

Gibson Custom

1952-1960 Les Paul, Explorer, Flying V, and Futura reissues (since late 1992):

M YRRR or MYRRRR

M is the model year being reissued

Y is the production year

RRR® indicates the guitar's place production for that year. NOTE: This number includes all models for a particular reissue year - so, for example, a 1958 Reissue serial number may include '58 Reissue LP Standard and '58 Explorer production.

Example: 7 5123 is the 123rd 1957 reissue model produced in 2005.

Go to this page for info:

This also gives me an opportunity to show mine off:

Not exactly a related question, but why on the 57 ri did they not flip "les paul model" so that it would right side up while you're playing it? I haven't noticed it on any other left handed's in the gibson line. I'm sure it's an issue of historical accuracy, but I'm curious nonetheless.

As I understand it, in '57, left handed LP's were manufactured using right handed necks. I have seen photos of original LP's that are the same as the RI.
