A question about the classic with p90s

I am led to believe that my new classic with P90s is, in effect, a reproduction of an older model special.

The current specials have no neck binding and humbuckers. During which years (if any) were specials produced with neck binding and P90s?

I am just curious. It is a beautiful guitar and I dont really care if it is or is not true that it is a copy of a special, Id just like to be educated about what I have got. (its a cherry one by the way).

The SG Special with P90s was made from 1968-1972 and I'm pretty sure they all came with neck binding.

If i'm mistaken I'm sure someone will correct me. =P~

In the absence of a reason to doubt him, I think Neo has answered the question to my satisfaction! I can now have a dig around for some pics from that era and check it out

I believe it was 68-71. In 72 they came out with that disgusting thing with the Les Paul pickguard, and the control cavity plate mounted on the front. BTW I'm picking up an original '68 this weekend!
