New to LP Guitars (Sort of)

Hi everyone!

I consider myself new to the LP I own a 2008 LP Traditional (Desert Burst) that I purchased new last September.

My question is: The neck pickup tone knob is easy to pull off. However, the three others aren't. In fact they don't seem to want to come off no matter how hard I try to pull them off. Is there something wrong with them? I was primarily a strat player before so please excuse my ignorance.

Thanks

It sounds to me more like you have a problem with the knob more than the particular LP you have. I’m not sure what type of pots came with your LP however, if they are the split type then all you really have to do is spread the gap ever so slightly for a tighter fit. Otherwise, you may have to replace that knob for a new one.

Thanks. They are split so I'll try that. I'm not that worried or anything I was messing around with them one day when it came off and noticed the other three were on pretty snug.

If you want to get the tight ones off for some reason, there's a trick where you slip a bandana under the knob and wrap it around the post. Then pull up on the bandana to pry the knob off without damaging your top or bending the post.

Welcome aboard fellow St. Louisan. Must have pictures of your Desert Burst.

This works really well. If you really want to go nuts then try this.
