mikel77
yes, that's the one-the last song they played-that Black Gibson Acoustic-it must be a custom 'cause i never saw it but i'd love to get my hands on one.
Boston004681
Maybe it's an older model. if you're really determined, you can search all of Gibson's history books. it doesn't look like gibson custom makes acoustics. but they might. don't know. Hummingbird2000
It looks like a Gibson Everly Brothers model, based on the J-185. Body dimensions are the same on the Everly Brothers (aka J-180) as on the J-185, except the body depth is shallower. Spruce top, maple back and sides, mahogany neck, black finish, two oversize pickguards (dark tortoise color, hard to see in the SNL clip against the back lacquered top of the guitar), rosewood fretboard with five pointed MOP stars for position markers, and a rosewood oversize pinless bridge that was designed by Ike Everly, Don and Phil's father. The official Everly Brothers signature guitar has been discontinued for some time now, and IIRC Gibson Montana made the J-180 model as recently as the early 2000's. Guest
On SNL a week or two ago, it looked to me as if he was playing an early '90s J-180. I'm glad I don't have any of those ultra-long Billie Joe guitar straps though..... :-) Fred

mikel77
It sure looks like a custom to me-i've never seen anything like it. The black finish appears to have stars on the body.

mikel77
That's not it-there was no pick guard on it i recall-certainly not that big
Gilliangirl
Mikel, I think it is the Everly model. If you watch the video again, at the very first sighting of the guitar you can see the edges of the pickguards reflecting the light. It's hard to see but the pickguards are there. guitarfreak16
That's not it-there was no pick guard on it i recall-certainly not that big Because of the low light on the stage, it appeared not to have one, but it did
jchabalk
nice! i actually started a thread on this exact same thing a month or so ago - i saw them play in san francisco and was wondering about that guitar.. mikel77
well, looks like you're right-i did notice the pick guard in the clip-it sure looked all black to me. there's on one EBAY right now-a J-180-looks like the one-but they want $3200-is that about the price they're going for? primodasprimas
Billie Joe uses the gibson j-180 at the 21 guns video clip but he has a new j-180. It´s custom and it has his name on the head of the guitar you can check it the last night on earth video clip at the official green day website. Sorry if i made some mistakes writting this post but im portuguese and im 13 years old
PetPeeves
You say P!nk - I say? Pink Floyd You say Hip Hop - I say Jimi Hendrix You say R&B - I scream Classic Rock You say Hannah Montana - I hit you in the face 70% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Rap. If you are part of the 30% that still listen to REAL MUSIC, copy and paste this message to your signature DON'T LET RAP & HIPHOP TAKE OVER! DON'T LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK DIE!!! Hahaha ...I love it. I'd also like to bury all "Puddle of Mudvaynes" or however the eff it's spelled. Non-melodic mickey mouse psuedo hard core crapfest. That's what (most) music is today. Cheers. And Happy Festivus! J-200 Koa
Shrimer nailed it....it is an actual Everly model and not a more modern J-180. The bridge is the original Ike Everly style where the strings pull through rather than use pins to hold them in place. I'm pretty sure the body is a bit thinner than the J-180 by 1/2" or so.
