You were a cheerleader in 1966?

My, Hoyt...

You were indeed a gender-bending, trend-setting, barrier-smashing trailblazer!

That kinda stuff was widely frowned upon way back then.

I had no idea.

My frat brothers gave me the pledge name Opie Wad. Opie because most of them were big city folk from Chicago and Indianapolis and they thought me a hillbilly. Wad' date=' due to my last name which I share with a famous porn star.

I currently have no nick names. That I'll answer to anyway.

I would consider "Homz" a nickname--and isn't that what I've called you for years? And I think you still respond when I call you "Vlad." ;-)

As for me...*very few* people actually use a nickname for me. I was actually just talking about this a couple of days ago. Maybe I'm just too boring, but it's nice when a few people actually have a special name for me. (And I'm not telling what those are).

from High School

Tumbleweed

Fro

Afro

Professor

Tumbleweed is the only one I still have.

I have occasionally gotten "Professor" as well because I am one of the few in my field that have 1) graduate school experience or 2) teaching experience. I usually don't take to it very kindly.

No not "Professor". Maybe Maryann. Homz can be the "Professor". With his Posts he knows a lot of stuff. Plus I guess the guys hung up on Spelling can be "Professor's" also. Hey do we have any Ginger's in this Forum? Dem00n can be Gilligan. To many of us can play the Skipper. We have a bunch of old fat bossy men. So he's covered. The Howell's I'm lost on that one. :-k

CAT. My third grade teacher wanted to know if anyones initials spelled a word. This was back in the day when everyone had just a first, middle, and last name. Mine was the only one and it stuck all through school. To this day my wife knows when a high school buddy calls the house they always ask for CAT.

I'm sure it wasn't a Gilligan's Island reference. :) If it was, I'd be a cross between Ginger & Mary Anne. I might be your "girl next door," but I'm still a redheaded diva!

I was just so Full of Trivia in High School, especially about Music History, that my friends just started to call me that. If it was for actual credentials, I would probably have liked it better.
