Rick
Now...i'm gonna buy my 2nd electric guitar i can spend 1650 € (2304 $)... now, the SG standard costs 960 €, the explorer classic white (so with pickguard) 1040€, the SG 61 reissue 1240 € i don't know how much will cost a custom order (i go to the dealer this week to ask a quote) i'll buy an amp too, a laney LC30 (530€ circa,740 $) so, SG std + laney LC30= 1490 € (2083 $) X classic white + laney = 1570 € (2192 $) SG reissue + laney = 1770 € (2471 $) now, only the reissue costs more than 1650 € (2304 $) but the fact is : i don't know wich one pick, i LOVE 'EM ALL i play metal and hard rock and i have another Explorer, with ceramic PUs (Alnico II pro/neck, 500T/bridge) if i pick the explorer , i put on EMGs if i pick a SG, i put on 57'/neck and Angus Young signature PU/bridge (and maybe a maestro lyre vibrola :- ) so, if you have any suggestion for me.. Tim Plains
You love them all but have you played them all? Big difference. I LOVE Firebirds but don't find them comfortable to play. That's why I don't own one (or six). What do you mean by custom order, exactly? If you want something unique, as is not something Gibson makes everyday, than you're going to spend at least triple what the guitar is worth. So, that Explorer won't cost 1040 € (nowhere near!!) and you'll wait for close to a year to get it. How old are you? Assuming you're an adult with a steady pay check - you don't have to buy both at once. You can buy the best guitar you can afford today, then save up and buy an amp later one. Or vice versa. Corrosion of conformity
I voted for the classic white Explorer, that's my next guitar purchase, once I get the money
RichCI
I've been drooling over the 61 RI SG for... quite a long time. Plus, I've been really digging my SG Jr lately so my vote goes to the 61 RI.
