cwness Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 It has come to my attention that I hyjacked Luap's topic on the Studio body and for that I apologize. I would like to put together some info on the Studio from 1983 when the first came out to present. I'm asking because of the hard time I've had trying to find out info about mine. All info appreciated. Thanks CW
Riffster Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 The wikipedia page has pretty decent information on Studios. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_Les_Paul_Studio
cwness Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Thanks for the link Stiffhand I now have more pieces of the puzzle. CW
max2343 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 No one Ever Tell's-ya that the Bodies are a little Thinner than the Standards.
Luap Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 What would be the weight of a new (so chambered) LP Studio?
Riffster Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 No one Ever Tell's-ya that the Bodies are a little Thinner than the Standards. True, and the Vintage Mahogany is a bit thinner than a normal studio, at least for what I can tell. The thinner part is the top, the back of the body seems to be the same.
cwness Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 I just checked my Studio width compared to my standard and R and there is a 1/4 of and inch difference in the thickness. Good info guys. Never knew that. Why would they weight relieve if it's 1/4 inch thinner in the first place. I not saying they aren't weight relieved just asking bacause that 1/4 inch over the whole body got to add up to so good weigth loss. CW
Riffster Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Especially when you have a maple cap, shaving a 1/4" from it should make a difference in weight. I think weight relieving is just standard procedure. My Vinatge Mahognay is an early 2005 and it is light and resonant, it is also aging well.
