djroge1
Some lawmakers propose taxing ranchers more for their livestock. Cows emit methane from both ends, and methane is a potent greenhouse gas that some say contributes to global warming. The Environmental Protection Agency proposes a tax of $175 a year on every head of dairy cattle. If it passes, you can expect higher dairy and beef prices. What do you think of the idea of money for methane?

pauline
You really can make some money out of mouth-odor ? Or even with selling catalyzers for the animals.
MikeRom
Other than enriching the government, what would that solve? The cows are still going to burp and fart -

Bowdiddley
I have a friend who owns a large cattle farm in VT. They recently installed a very pricey machine that takes the methane and converts it to electricity. He then sells the electricity to the local grid. It will take a fews years to pay off the initial investment but then its all income.

He needs to make sure these FDA guys know what he is doing so others can get paid for having gas instead of paying. If they were to add this tax you are be certain that we will pay for it thru our milk, hamburgers, and steaks.
Notes_Norton
Perhaps we should tax cat and dog owners, they fart too and don't even supply food. And what about landfills, you can smell them for miles. Oh, and we can tax beans too! Of course if the Democrats do it, it will be called a tax, if the Republicans do it it will be called a Fee (they don't like the word tax) and either way you look at it we lose. We elect our governors who instead of representing us, are puppets of the multi-national corporations. The multi-nationals have their hooks into both major political parties, the feed us the same sh*t either way but put it in a different package. It's all about taking money from our labor and our retirement savings and putting it into their pockets. The only proper way to save our country is at the ballot box, and that means NOT voting either Republican or Democrat, and sadly, I don't think that is going to happen.
