Flight959
First off a BIG thanks to Tim for taking the time to order and send me a bottle... Im sure its been mentioned here before.... Fret Doctor is without a doubt the best product I have used on my Les Pauls... The fretboards now look stunning.... Even my studio's board looks awsome! Just thought I'd mention it guys.... If you haven't already...Give it a go... Regards

rocketman
The website is here. I use it too and it's by far the best stuff I've ever seen. Ed Boyle does a great job explaining all the various oils here. Also, if you like it, send him an email (click on the link Contact Ed Boyle). Ed and I have been in regular contact some quite a while and I enjoy our email exchanges (well, a lot of them are jokes!). He told me that Gibson was very interested in Fret Doctor. Take a look at any brand new Gibson guitar and you'll see that the fretboard is very dry. Hopefully, Gibson is listening to us and they will work out a deal someday. vintage52
Got mine delivered to New Zealand last week. Like it....a lot! Ed's note that came with it was excellent. Gave a bit of a run down on how he uses it so quite a good starting point.
ledzep59
I use lemon oil and the before/after look is very similar. I have always used lemon oil and when I worked in a music/instrument store we used the same stuff.
rocketman
uuh thats a fife website..... Yep, that's right. He does a lot with fifes. Click on the link Fret Doctor on the left. You'll see pictures of guitar fretboards and ordering information on that site.
rocketman
I use lemon oil and the before/after look is very similar. I have always used lemon oil and when I worked in a music/instrument store we used the same stuff. This is from Ed's website "Lemon Oil, Almond oil, Walnut oil, etc., food grade, are probably O.K., but make sure they don't contain solvents like naphtha or other petroleum distillates. Solvents can weaken any adhesives used in instrument construction. Be aware that most "Lemon oils" are no more than lemon-scented mineral oil, as are most bore oils. Real lemon oil is quite acidic, with a pH of 3.7 to 4.2. It is an effective cleaner, but wipe it off when you are finished. Rosewood oil does not even come from the same plant that your fretboard wood came from, not even the same country! It is consists mostly of an aromatic solvent with a Rosewood oil scent added." I have spoken to many techs who had to fix a fretboard that fell off because of overuse with lemon oil. BTW, this is another reason why I trust Ed's product. Most people who want to sell you something usually state something like "all other products suck and we're the best." Ed doesn't say that. In fact he says that lemon oil is ok here. deepblue
Do we use both, Fret Doctor & Bore Doctor?.....or just one?

BTW, is that fife website the only place to order it from?

Flight959
Do we use both' date=' Fret Doctor & Bore Doctor?.....or just one?[/quote'] deepblue, Just use the Fret Doctor. I wished I had taken before and after pictures to show you guys the diffenece it makes... I took my strings off and wiped down the board before usuing a few drops to cover the whole fretboard... If you want the board to darken then dont wipe it off just let the wood absorb it....about 120mins.. The result looks wicked!! ONLY to be used a couple of times a year... I have used Lemon Oil and Gibson fretboard conditioner which are ok but dont produce anywhere near the same results.. Thanks for listening guys..
