GingerSG
Hi all, I'm currently talking to a guy who wants to trade my SG 61 Reissue for his 1994 Les Paul custom and was hoping if you guys would take a look at the pictures below and tell me whether it's the real deal or a deal thats too good to be true because I've looked at the pictures myself but I'm not to attuned to spotting a fake guitar in a matter of seconds. Any help you guys can provide me will be greatly appreciated. The serial no. btw is 94014777. I checked this and the date seems to match up but its the headstock that has me mainly concerned. Flight959
Guitar looks genuine. Cant say if its a good deal or not though... The skinny logo on that headstock is usually seen on the 70's customs... Becuase of the angle of the headstock picture, its hard to get an idea of the shape.. Dont Customs have different tuners? GingerSG
Thanks very much flight for the quick response, call it sods law but I was in doubt about the guitar, as earlier before I saw the ad for the les paul I actually went to trade my SG for a PRS McCarty but I couldn't get the deal I wanted, so when i saw this ad, my inner guitar addict jumped at the chance of owning a LP Custom! Flight959
If you have a slight doubt about authenticity then dont do it... Where is it advertised? Regards
GingerSG
It was advertised on preloved.co.uk by a man who lives quite locally. Pre loved is quite a popular classifieds site and there were many different guitars posted on there which can only make me assume it's quite a good place for buying and selling premium goods. When I requested further pictures of the guitar (which I posted above) he showed no hesitation about emailing me them and if anything, he said he was willing to do the deal he just needed more background on the SG, which I provided and am currently waiting for his reply. Flight959
There is one on Gumtree at the moment which looks very similar! with the correct Tuners http://www.gumtree.com/london/49/45962449.html Regards
GingerSG
I've just re-checked the ad, and the exact model name given was Les Paul Custom Plus. If that might help explain it's likeness to the 76' custom.

GingerSG
I can't thank you enough for your help! I will be sure to ask the seller about the tuners and if all is good I will definitely mark this transaction as a landmark guitar to add to my collection! Thanks very much, Jamie. six-string
i've seen Customs with Grover kidney bean style tuners and Kluson vintage style and others as stock. i wouldn't worry much about the tuners. if you can play it first and give it a good look in person that's always best. good luck!
